WHO?

This GMM will provide HBR of CNY Members with an overview of the Empire State Development’s Housing Market Study – “Building a Healthy Housing Market in Central NY”. 

Empire State Development (ESD) is New York's chief economic development agency, and promotes business growth, job creation, and greater economic opportunity throughout the state. ESD conducted a “Housing Market Study”, which encompassed six counties within the Micron ‘housing shed’ and worked to review the demand for housing. 

HBR Member Mixer networking immediately following the presentation and Q & A across the street at the Marriot Downtown (i.e. Hotel Syracuse) at Shaughnessy's Irish Pub.

WHAT?

This study is meant to inform a coordinated state and local strategy to provide housing. The good news is that the findings of the study, reiterates many of the challenges that we, in the residential construction industry, already know, such as: 

• Regulatory barriers 
• Financial barriers 
• Need for policy intervention 
• Development reality in localities 

At the very least, it’s good to know that they listened while conducting the study. Sam Gordon with EDR (Environmental Design & Research), who was a consultant on the project, will walk us through the report and answer questions.  Examples of what will be reviewed:

PARKING - There is NO designated free parking lot available for this event.  Parking is available at the Marriott garage across the street for approximately $12, or you can park on the street.  Plenary of street parking available in that area.

After the meeting - or if you can't make the meeting at 3pm, join us at Shaughnessy's Irish Pub, Syracuse Marriott, 550 S. Warren Street for a beverage and networking opportunities.  NO RSVP required for the networking session.  Cash bar.

Thursday January 22, 2026, starting at 3:00pm - until the Q & A is complete (~5:00pm ?) - then cocktails at Shaughnessy's!
