About
Stone Hammer Homes is a full design-build construction firm and an “On Your Lot Specialty Builder”. What this means is we’ll either use your architectural plans and build a home on your property or assist you with the design and architectural phases of the project right through construction and completion.
We work with some of Central New York’s most talented architects and designers that form a skilled and creative team that will bring your vision to life- and then some. There is a tremendous benefit to designing a house alongside experienced builders; ultimately you’ll get real-world input and cost-conscious feedback during the design phase. This will prevent designing a house that’s outside of your target budget and will offer additional expertise in areas you may not have considered, as well as expedite the design process. In some cases, our customers don’t own property yet and we help facilitate this step as well.
Overall, our process is simple- you’ll work directly with Chris and Jeremy through the design/architectural and pricing stages at which time you’ll be presented with a detailed proposal outlining the scope of your project as well as the allowances for your finishes. Our detailed, room-by-room project proposals are second to none in the industry and clearly outline every detail of your new home; this is an important document that helps establish expectations throughout the build and helps prevent costly change orders and miscommunication once construction commences. Our proposal will also outline your allowances for all finishes in the project (cabinets, countertops, flooring, fixtures, and more) and will be tailored specifically to fit your design aesthetic and budget. Our “standards” are most other builders’ “upgrades” as we want to avoid change orders for upgrades and cost overruns whenever possible. If the scope of work outlined in the proposal and project price win your approval then we move to contract and secure financing for the build.
Once purchase agreements are signed and construction begins you’ll transition to working with Ashley Freund and our Project Management team. Ashley is an experienced interior designer that will help coordinate all of your finishes from cabinets to countertops, flooring, fixtures, paint colors, and more; she’ll help you manage the allowances provided to keep the project on budget as well. Our Project Management team will then coordinate the day-to-day nuances of scheduling contractors, quality control, communicating with customers, and maintaining budgets. Of course, Chris and Jeremy are still involved throughout the construction process and are offering regular support to their team members. We also work with a highly skilled contractor base that we have established over several years; this allows us to consistently deliver high-quality projects that are on time.
